Awareness Programs¶
Awareness programs sharpen an operator's senses: spotting threats first, avoiding ambushes, and keeping the crew's head on a swivel during movement. Passive Perception = 10 + WIS mod + any relevant proficiencies; the bonuses below stack with it.
Awareness Training 1-4¶
Baseline sensory conditioning. Makes you harder to sneak up on and better at finding things that are deliberately hidden.
- Level 1: Dim light no longer imposes disadvantage on WIS (Perception) checks relying on sight.
- Level 2: +5 to passive Perception.
- Level 3: Advantage on WIS (Perception) and INT (Investigation) checks to find secret doors and hidden caches.
- Level 4: An additional +5 to passive Perception (total +10 from this track).
Advanced Awareness Training 1-4¶
Prereq: Awareness Training Level 2.
Reaction speed and tactical awareness. Lets you read a situation faster than the people trying to jump you.
- Level 1: Advantage on initiative rolls.
- Level 2: Traveling at a fast pace (normally -5 to passive Perception) no longer imposes that penalty.
- Level 3: You cannot be surprised while conscious.
- Level 4: If you can hear, you know the location (but not identity) of any hidden or invisible creature within 20 ft.
Counter Ambush Training 1-4¶
Hardening against the ambush scenario itself: harder to catch flat-footed, and harder to hurt when caught.
- Level 1: Advantage on WIS (Perception) and INT (Investigation) checks to detect traps or impending surprise attacks.
- Level 2: Traveling at a fast pace no longer imposes the -5 penalty on passive Perception.
- Level 3: Resistance to all damage dealt during a surprise round against you.
- Level 4: +5 AC against attacks from creatures you cannot see.
